In the 1880s, gunfighter Gypsy Smith (Sidney Poitier) leads the U.S. Army into a Cheyenne camp to capture a suspected Indian renegade. A bloody massacre takes place. One of the survivors, a child named White Wolf, returns with Gypsy to live with a white family, where he is raised. How does he assimilate into his new surroundings? Not fully Native American and not really white, he becomes romantically attracted to his white "sister." When Gypsy returns leading a group of Black settlers West, racism and the Ku Klux Klan become a part of CHILDREN OF THE DUST (1995). In addition to Poitier and Farrah Fawcett, the cast includes Michael Moriarty, Jim Caviezel, Joanna Going, Hart Bochner, Regina Davis, Robert Guillaume and Shirley Knight.
