Data transmission is the process of sending data in the form of packets from a source to a destination in computer networking. A data packet is the fundamental unit of communication in a computer network. A data packet is formed by dividing the data from the sending source (e.g., images, videos, emails, chats) into smaller units and then reconstructing them into the original data as it is. If an error occurs during the sending process, such as a packet being dropped due to time to live, but the packet has not yet arrived at the destination, the destination device will issue a request to resend the faulty packets in order for the collection to complete properly.
