I have to admit, even though I'm constantly focused on turning negative energy into positive, my default thought about some things is negative.
For example: my alarm goes off at 4:50 AM. I can get up and start moving, or snooze until 5:20 AM.
My first thought:
"What's the worst thing that will happen if I hit the snooze bar? I'll have less time for my morning routine, and possible have to cut short or eliminate a portion of that, either meditation or lifting or some aspect. Then I might jeopardize my streak of consistency ... and it could possibly even be a slippery slope to the following day ... etc., etc."
Why isn't my first thought more like this:
"What's the best thing that might come out of an extra half hour of sleep, or possibly even just turning off the alarm altogether, with no snooze, and just sleep or rest in bed until whenever my body tells me it's time to get up? What if that course of action might deliver me more rest, peace, and recovery ... and in addition, I will still get more than enough of my morning routine in?"
Just because you have a thought, doesn't mean that it's true, or that you have to act on it, or attach to it.
In this example, the result on this particular morning ended up being a combination of the two.
But the important point is that I realized that my default thought was not the only way to think about things.
