Winter holidays - such a beautiful and joyful time for everyone! However, the holiday spirit can also be the perfect time for cybercriminals to trick your employees and deliver phishing emails, malware, or even ransomware, putting your company in jeopardy.
Now that December has arrived, we feel like it's that time of the year when we need to have "the talk".
Over the years, we have seen that cybercrime, in particular ransomware attacks, increase during the holiday season. As IT teams are usually short-staffed over Christmas and New Year's, organizations have their guards down, and for various seasonal reasons, December makes a perfect month for cybercriminals to strike and cause serious damage. The good news is that there are steps everyone can take to protect themselves this holiday season from cyber threats: never clicking on suspicious links or downloading attachments, using hard-to-guess passwords and MFA systems, having a solid contingency plan in place, keeping all systems up to date and scanning them for vulnerabilities regularly, and so on.
