Yup, all politicians mislead, over promise, exaggerate even lie intentionally or not. They all pander for votes, but this man is different, he isn't trying to appeal to a United America, but to a segment of the population willing to support a demagogue. History shows that never goes well.
The following are Donald Trumps own words. This is what he says he will do. If all this were to happen, think of the consequences, look at the competing goals. Consider the impossibility of lowertaxes, a morepowerful military, while eliminating of debt - and no mention of Social Security or Medicare solvency.
Low taxes and regulation
The most powerful military
Tariffs and taxes on other countries that have taken advantage of the United States
Make the Country rich and debt free - again
Protection of our under siege 2nd Amendment
Great health care
Low energy prices and even energy independence and dominance
Who doesn't like low taxes? But how do we pay for all we want?
Most powerful military? Look it up, the USA has the most powerful military in the world.
Tariffs and taxes on other countries? Have you looked in your clothes closet? Look where everything from golf clubs to furniture is made. Higher tariffs and taxes on imports means higher prices or shortages or both. Can you say inflation? Oh yeah, also retaliation on US made products. Can you say layoffs?
Rich and debt free - again. The USA is the richest country in the world of any significant size. Debt free? What a joke. Under Donald Trump's leadership national debt increased by $6.7 trillion. Yup it also increased under Obama and Biden and the US was never debt free except under Andrew Jackson in 1835. To say any president will make the USA debt free in four years - or ever - is outrageously ludicrous. Think of what it would take to eliminate $32 trillion in debt, think of the consequences.
Second Amendment? What's under siege? Never heard of anyone seeking to repeal the 2nd Amendment, just common sense management of the unnecessary proliferation of weapons unrelated to hunting, sport shooting or even self defense. But the key words are common sense of which this man has little. He should also read some history about the period in our country when the Amendment was written and the role of state and federal military at the time.
Great health care. Where have we heard that before? Oh yes, in 2016. There is nothing wrong with our health care, it's the cost and paying for it. Trump has no idea what great health care means, he has no clue about assuring universal coverage or paying for it. He has been playing the same tune since 2016 when he promised to repeal Obamacare and replace it with something "great". There is no hope of a fair distribution of costs, managing quality and costs and coverage for all citizens unless there is one risk pool for all Americans and Trump and his followers don't get that. Do you?
Low energy prices and independence. Wouldn't that be nice? All we need to do is control the global oil market while the rest of the world is trying to reduce use of fossil fuels.
Parental power? Who is that pandering to, the far religious right? Parents on school boards have power. So do voters.
Life, strong borders, etc. more pandering
Is this the way you want your President to act? Is this the way you want him to speak about your government and fellow citizens? Is this what you believe because he says so? Is this the way a dignified, rational person defends themselves when innocent?
