Press meet held at Press Club of Bangalore
Dr. Krishna Sama Rao (Founder& Trustee, Inga health Foundation & Operation Smile Cleft Surgery Team leader) said, "This mission follows a longstanding partnership between Operation Smile, the Inga Healtha Foundation (IHF), and the Government of Karnataka, NHM, RBSK, which began in 2019 with the first free cleft surgery camp in Bangalore. Operation Smile and IHF run two year-round cleft care centers, providing surgical and comprehensive care to over 500 patients annually from various parts of Karnataka. Collectively, their efforts have resulted in life-changing surgeries for approximately 2500 patients and around 35,000 comprehensive care screenings for individuals with cleft conditions. This achievement has been made possible through the dedicated efforts of medical and non-medical teams from Operation Smile and IHF, along with invaluable support from the RBSK team in identifying patients across remote areas of Karnataka."
Children born with cleft conditions often face social marginalization due to stigma and social taboos, preventing them from accessing education and societal integration. A simple surgery can reintegrate these children into society and offer them a chance at a normal life. Kinder Hospitals, Operation Smile, and the Inga Health Foundation are dedicated to reaching children in the remotest corners of Karnataka, providing them with high-quality care and a brighter future.
The programme will be supported by volunteers of Sri Vinayaka College of Nursing, Magadi road.
