A mum accused of killing two of her children and attempting to kill a third has been arrested in the UK after an international manhunt.
An arrest warrant was issued on Tuesday for Kimberlee Singler, from the US state of Colorado, on charges of murder and attempted murder after her seven-year-old son and nine-year-old daughter were found dead in the home. Her 11-year-old daughter was sent to the hospital to be treated for injuries, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said.
Officers initially arrived at Ms Singler's Colorado Springs home shortly after midnight on December 19 after receiving a report about a burglary. The call came from inside the home, public information officer Ira Cronin told CNN, though he could not confirm who made the call.
"Officers arrived on the scene and observed an adult female and an 11-year-old female who had sustained injuries," CSPD said in a statement.
"Two other juveniles, a nine-year-old girl and a seven-year-old boy, were found deceased in the residence."
The adult female was identified as Ms Singler. She and her surviving daughter were taken to hospital.
Ms Singler was initially considered by authorities to be a victim, due to the burglary report, but became a suspect "over the course of the investigation," Mr Cronin said.
"Until we had probable cause we weren't able to hold her for any reason," he added.
The burglary was determined to be "unfounded" and an arrest warrant was issued for Ms Singler on December 28, more than a week after the alleged killings. At the time, the mum hadn't been seen since December 23, police said.
Ms Singler faces four counts of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder. The charges for each alleged crime were doubled due to all children being under the age of 12.
