Your Monte Carlo RVS 2024 ILS Recap - Part 2 | | | ILS news from today at the RVS | With the event now well-underway, here's Artemis' latest updates from the 2024 Monte Carlo Reinsurance Rendez-vous. Today in Monte Carlo, we reported that Stone Ridge Asset Management has hit a new milestone of $10bn in assets across its cat bonds, ILS and reinsurance strategies. ILS manager Elementum Advisors announced a key hire today, as Andreas (Andy) von Reitzenstein is joining as Senior Vice President, Underwriting in Bermuda. Chris McKeown of Vantage Risk told Artemis that in order to avoid disappointing investors and guarantee continued access to capital, the reinsurance and ILS industry needs to escape the market-cycle mindset. Guy Carpenter's Global Specialties division said there is an expectation more non-marine retrocessional capital and capacity comes to market through the end of year, which could impact supply-demand dynamics and cost of coverage. We reported that Aon Securities estimates the sidecar market at a new record high of $10bn. Marcel Grandi of Twelve Capital, told us in an interview that he believes the current reinsurance market environment and its pricing may persist longer this time. Swiss Re said today it is expecting continued rising demand for coverage of natural catastrophe risks, as the volatile environment is likely to result in increased use of insurance and reinsurance protection to manage risk. While Hannover Re said today in Monte Carlo that innovation remains on the agenda even while demand for traditional reinsurance remains high, citing examples of parametric risk transfer and its recent cloud outage cyber catastrophe bond.
