Here's our latest Friday wrap-up of key news from the week.
In the catastrophe bond market new records have been set, with issuance and the outstanding market reaching new highs in 2024.
Cat bond market activity continued apace this week, with Beazley securing its largest property cat bond yet, while Fidelis got its biggest Herbie Re deal, Liberty Mutual finalised its new Mystic cat bond, and Progressive also secured its largest cat bond.
One new cat bond for issuance early next year emerged, as TD Insurance entered the market with the first Canada-only property cat bond.
We revealed a notable new ILS manager launch, with King Ridge Capital Advisors founded by Rick Pagnani and Vijay Manghnani and the firm set to be the portfolio manager to the awaited first cat bond ETF.

In an interview, Mark Gibson of Schroders Capital told us that ILS investor demand is expected to be healthy in 2025, but that the trajectory of pricing is less certain.
In other news this week, a poll of US insurers by Aon found that 15% plan to use cat bonds, ILS and third-party capital in 2025.
The European Central Bank (ECB) and regulator EIOPA called for a natural catastrophe insurance system that includes pooling private risks and the use of catastrophe bonds.
The Florida State Board of Administration now appears set to move forwards and increase its allocation to ILS for the state retirement system.
A multi-manager liquid alternatives investment fund strategy managed by J.P. Morgan in partnership with Coutts & Co. updated its investment policy to allow up to 10% to be allocated to catastrophe bonds.
Analysts said that property cat reinsurance can continue to deliver strong returns even if prices decline, as long as terms and attachments stick.
