I used to believe that it didn’t matter how much I ate because my health didn’t matter. This made it really easy to eat an entire pie of pizza at 3:00 AM. Why not? I wasn’t thinking about the consequences at all. It’s easy to convince yourself in this manner; to believe in a story that you have been told or created. It’s not easy to change your beliefs. Sometimes we need someone to step in and question them. Once we do, our behaviors can change. I’ve helped many people undo their beliefs around health and self-image. Beliefs such as: “I can’t eat this or that.” “It doesn’t matter / I’m not worth it.” “Nothing I’ve tried has worked or stuck so I’ll just give up.” Those are only true if you believe they are.
