"Why are potato chips bad for you?" The person who asked this question was very confused about this. I don’t think it’s the right question. It’s well intended, but misguided. There’s a better ‘question behind the question.’ I gave this guidance: I suggested that he try not to think of potato chips as good or bad.
This is a powerful external force beyond your control.
This is an internal feeling, also a strong one!
It is a highly reinforced eating behavior. So the question isn’t ‘are potato chips good or bad’. The question behind this question is: “How much of these potato chips work for me?”This is a very different question.
If you are able to enjoy a few small bowls of potato chips throughout the week, and this keeps you happy and able to stay consistent with a balanced diet that is otherwise full of mostly less processed, whole foods, then I say … … good for you.
