The company said that it shared EUR 438 million of its large natural catastrophe losses from Q1 with insurance-linked securities (ILS) capital sources through its ILS and collateralized fronting activities. Sven Althoff from Hannover Re also said this morning that a roughly EUR 230 million recovery is expected from its retrocessional reinsurance to support its losses from the Los Angeles wildfires, with the majority of that expected to come from the proportional K-Cessions quota share sidecar. Combined, it means meaningful third-party capital and investor support for Hannover Re's gross loss impact from the wildfires, although important to note the collateralized fronting business is gross only and not for the reinsurer's own book.
