The US weather agency predicts between 6 and 10 Atlantic hurricanes will form in 2025
NOAA: 60% chance hurricane season above-normal | | | NOAA forecasts 60% chance of above-normal Atlantic hurricane season With just over one week until the official start of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season on June 1st, US weather agency NOAA has issued its first forecast, giving a 60% chance of above normal activity levels, with between 6 and 10 hurricanes predicted over the coming months. The NOAA outlook gives a 30% chance of a near-normal season, a 60% chance of an above-normal season, and a 10% chance of a below-normal season. In storm and hurricane terms, that means a prediction for 13 to 19 total named storms, with 6 to 10 forecast to become hurricanes and 3 to 5 of those forecast to become major hurricanes during the season.
