This is a real question from a friend: I need to break it down a bit. ‘Strictly from a health perspective’ implies that the person wants to know which of the two is nutritionally better - without too much, or perhaps any, context. Except it’s all about the individual context because it depends:
If we assume the person has a well-balanced diet, that they are not obese or sick, and that they eat a decent variety of both lean and fattier proteins, as well as fruits & vegetables, and have other basic nutritional fundamentals consistent, then I say: Enjoy your chicken thighs!!! In fact that’s my personal favorite cut of the chicken, and I love eating them with the skin on. However if the person is out of balance and has specific goals such as weight loss then more lean protein is usually better more often. That’s not to say that such a person should never eat dark meat … … but the higher the total fat in the diet, the total calorie count goes up quickly.
