Question 1: Explain what you think are some of the key differences between cyber security, cyber awareness, and cyber safety. To what extent are you teaching these in the classroom or to what extent do you think they should be taught and why?

Cyber secrurity: Involves trained professionals practicing or protecting computers, networks, programs, devices, and data from any form of digital attacks.

Cyber awareness: The knowledge, attitude and behaviours that focus to protect our information assets. For example keeping software up to date, setting strong passwords, having anti-virus protection and having two factor authentication are all examples of cyber awareness. Leading students to the understanding that their online data is permanent is one of the most important factors in teaching students cyber awareness.

Cyber Safety: Using information and communication technologies safely and responsibly; being secure online. For example, not downloading content from unknown sites, protecting passwords, and being careful with what you post online are all examples of cyber security.

These subsections are closely intertwined and all play a crucial role in keeping students safe online, enabling them to assess and manage risks confidently.

Question 3: Share an activity idea or classroom resource that you have found online or created yourself that involves primary students exploring private and public information sharing. It could be a video, lesson plan, storybook, song or anything else!
