It was a sad day for me when I found out that Tiya Tinay's in Brgy. Sirangan eventually closed down. At first, I thought it might be because of the pandemic but most likely because of the construction of the public parking building (which as of this writing is not completed yet).
Tiya Tinay's cafe when it is still located in Brgy. Sirangan. Circa 2010.
But after a few months it closed down, I heard that the Hayag family opened up another coffee shop in their place in Brgy. Bibincahan, inside Sts. Peter and Paul Ville Subdivision. The Tiya Tinay's name came from the family's matriarch. And I visited their cafe several times, but never had a chance to take a picture because I just wanted to eat together with family.
There was no hotdog anymore, so I ordered porkchop.
Recently, my wife and I had a chance to drop by and had breakfast. I ordered the usual - fried rice, sunny side up, porkchop (there was no hotdog anymore) and sapin-sapin. It's a rare opportunity for me to get to order bico. And of course, I ordered my coffee black (there was a time I would order kape-gatas).
Lately, on a specific day when my wife and I have a common free time in the morning, we drop by the cafe for breakfast. Having breakfast in a small, local cafe gives a community spirit, especially when you see familiar faces.
