Here's our latest Friday wrap-up of key news from the week.
As the New Year began, the catastrophe bond market has been quieter but sources say the pipeline is building nicely for the first-half.
This week we published our new catastrophe bond market report, which details the record $17.7bn of issuance we recorded in the last year.
Insurer SafePoint successfully doubled the size of its latest Nature Coast Re cat bond issuance.
Reinsurer Munich Re started its Eden Re II sidecar with the largest Class A tranche of notes in some years.
Taiping Re's CEO said that its first cat bond, the Hong Kong issued Silk Road Re, provides effective diversification for its catastrophe risk management strategy.
Swiss Re's cat bond Index delivered a total-return of 17.29% for 2024, the second-highest in its history.

In other news this week, as ever there is a focus on the reinsurance renewals.
Guy Carpenter said property cat rates fell 5% to as much as 15%, while alternative capital grew 7% to $107bn.
Aon said that easier retro market conditions bolstered capacity for the renewals.
Howden said property cat rates were down 8%, while retro was down 13.5% on average.
Gallagher Re's CEO said the renewals were rational, with more appetite for lower layers and aggregates.
We also updated our ILW rate-on-line chart, which agrees with Howden's estimates of rate declines.
