If you grew up before cellphones, you remember that we used to have to walk to a fixed place in the house in order to answer the phone when it rang, because it was tethered to the wall with screws and a wire. (Side note: I can’t believe I actually have to explain that!) Cellphone are great, however, their prevalence has removed something we once had: Space. A buffer. A no-phone zone. A distance in which you couldn’t have the phone in your hand because it wasn’t possible. Thus, today, in order to take back that space, you have to intentionally create it. That can be done by establishing a room (such as the kitchen) or other boundary on your own. I don’t really care how you do it, but if you don’t do it at all, then the phone is controlling you by default. Connect with me: LinkedIn | Instagram | YouTube | X | Coaching Community |
