You don’t need to ‘fix’ or ‘boost’ your metabolism. That’s not why you can’t lose fat or keep it off. These phrases make for good buzzwords, clickbait, and fear-based selling tactics. But here’s the truth: Your metabolism is working perfectly.Yes, it’s true that as you become more muscular, you can eat more while gaining less (or no) fat. But in order to become more muscular you need to move your body a lot. Like, for at least one hour per day. Most obese people - that’s 3/4 of people in the USA - are not even close to that level of activity. Movement is part of your metabolism. Thus, if you simply eat less, yes, you will lose weight. But eventually, you’ll get hungry. And so if you don’t also increase your movement, you will probably gain the weight back. Like, 9 out of 10 probably. So, to recap:
This is why the best programs incorporate movement from the beginning. Try not to think of it as ‘fixing’ or ‘boosting’ your metabolism. That’s a slippery slope of quick fixes that don’t stick. Make a plan that allows you to eat enough food to be happy and stay fit. If you need help with this, just hit reply, or checkout the link to my coaching group below.
