No Clean Slate.

And how to really create a New Year in 2026.

There is no clean slate on New Year’s Day.

You do not get to wipe out the parts of 2025 that you didn’t like.

You do not get to ‘start fresh’.

That is a myth.

The sooner you burn it down, the faster you’ll make your dreams about 2026 a reality.

Life = Living

It’s an ongoing process.

A verb; a present participle that ends in -ing.

Everything we have experienced prior to midnight on January 1st of 2026 informs everything we will experience after.

Our Past Is A Gift

It is a gift from your former self to your present self.

Your past is information. [In] … [formation].

Your past cannot be changed, however, right now, in this present moment, it is shaping your future.

The only question is, are you actively participating in that process?

Are you accepting the gift?

How To Create A ‘New Year’

It’s not done by ‘wiping the slate clean and starting new’.

That is refusing the gift.

It’s hard, but you must take an honest inventory of what you did not do well last year.

Then you can look to the future.

Who do you want to become?

What beliefs, skills, and traits does that version of you have?

What actions does he or she take (or not take) daily?

When you have clarity on that, you can transform the negative behaviors from 2025 into positive ones in 2026.

What To Do About January 1st?

It’s a fantastic time of year to begin new things.

I am simply suggesting you put a bit more thought and intentionality into it, rather than relying on ‘the stroke of the clock at midnight’ to provide you with enough momentum for 365 days of sustained effort, because it won’t.
