WTW has highlighted how cat bonds might even fit better under the TPA framework, than under a strategic asset allocation approach. Just this week we reported on the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP), which is a major institutional investor that recently embraced the total portfolio approach and allocates to ILS strategies. In addition, we also reported on CalPERS, which has grown its ILS investments rapidly in its first year of allocation to the asset class and from July 1st this year is set to adopt the total portfolio approach (TPA).
