Does it matter if ...
... you eat desserts 🍨 during the week?
It does, as it relates to your total average caloric balance.
Most people probably shouldn't have a dessert every night, because they:
- Don't eat enough whole foods, fruits, or vegetables
- Are already in too high of a caloric surplus even without the desserts
- Are not in great shape on several other levels
We have an obesity problem in this country and it's getting worse, faster.
However, the reality is that IF - that's a big 'if' - you are a person who has healthy eating & exercise behaviors, who is lean, strong, mobile, and active, and who is in the top 10% of fitness standards for your age or younger ...
... then you can probably have a sweet dessert every single day and not gain fat from it.
Because fundamentally the mechanism that matters is not 'what day of the week' it is.
It is your total average daily & weekly caloric balance.
If abstaining from cookies 🍪 until Saturday helps you achieve that balance, then abstain away, because that's what matters.
If you want to eat more cookies, then get your body moving more often and eat more whole foods more often.
That's how you earn the flexibility.
Not by eating less ... by eating better, more often.
