First, AM Best maintained its stable outlook on the global non-life reinsurance segment, assessing that the market “remains fundamentally strong” despite clear softening in property, challenges in certain classes of casualty in the US, and an overall competitive landscape. Next, Fitch Ratings maintained its deteriorating outlook for the global reinsurance sector for 2027, which the agency says reflects operating conditions that are gradually weakening from still-sound levels. While Moody's Ratings maintained its stable outlook for the global reinsurance sector, but noted the increasing influence of the ILS market. But what are all three saying about the insurance-linked securities market and alternative reinsurance capital? AM Best highlighted third-party reinsurance capital as an increasingly important part of global reinsurance capacity. Fitch Ratings anticipates the growth of the alternative reinsurance capital and insurance-linked securities (ILS) market will continue in 2027. Moody’s Ratings also highlighted ILS market expansion and reported that carriers are using ILS more strategically in the competitive reinsurance market environment.
