Tropical Storm Isaias forecast to reach Gulf coast as hurricane
Tropical storm Isaias formed this morning and it is now forecast to intensify into a hurricane, the first of the Atlantic season, and head towards a landfall on the Gulf Coast, potentially at Category 2 wind speeds.
The latest forecast advisory data now shows hurricane Isaias reaching wind speeds of around 90-95 knots, which would still be Category 2 although a little stronger than the previous forecast with potential sustained winds of close to 110 mph at its currently forecast peak. Some weakening is forecast prior to landfall, but meaningful uncertainty remains.
