MORE NEWS FROM NIST NIST Joins Alliance to Promote Open Wireless Technologies and Supply Chains The O-RAN Alliance develops hardware and software specifications that allow manufacturers and network operators to mix and match products from different vendors. In a livestreamed event last week, NIST launched the AI Risk Management Framework, its newest tool to help companies and other organizations manage the risks involved with new technology. This recording includes a discussion with business leaders about how they plan to use the framework. For Good Measure I haven't done a formal analysis, but if I have to guess, artificial intelligence (AI) is likely the research topic that has appeared most frequently in NIST news stories over the past few years. In addition to last week's launch of the NIST AI Risk Management Framework (RMF), you can find mentions of AI in stories about using Wi-Fi to detect breathing problems in individuals, helping firefighters to anticipate deadly backdrafts and flashovers, demonstrating a virtual wine tasting, predicting protein function, discovering new materials, and exploring the influence of human bias on AI bias … the list goes on and on.
