Hurricane Melissa's damaging impacts in Jamaica were in focus this week, our latest update on the country's cat bond this morning explained that the calculation agent process has been activated and the notes are marked down implying a total loss. Covéa Group priced its new Hexagon IV Re Ltd. (Series 2025-1) catastrophe bond, securing the upsized target of €250 million in fully-collateralized reinsurance protection. Migdal Insurance is the latest new entrant to the catastrophe bond market, as it targets $100 million of earthquake reinsurance covering exposure in Israel through a new Turris Re Ltd. King Ridge Capital Advisors has established a UCITS ETF catastrophe bond fund structure in Ireland. Daniel Grieger of Plenum Investments highlighted how national regulators are not all in agreement with ESMA's recommendations on cat bonds eligibility for UCITS strategies. In other stories this week, Stone Ridge has executed on a $1.2 billion adverse development reinsurance cover for global re/insurer Everest Group through its Longtail Re platform. In an interview, Leadenhall CEO Luca Albertini highlighted the challenges longer-tailed risks can pose for the capital markets. Blackstone has partnered with The Fidelis Partnership to fund new Syndicate 2126 through London Bridge 2 PCC. Goldman Sachs analysts conveyed a distinct skepticism regarding the rational behaviour of the property catastrophe reinsurance market. RenaissanceRe grew its UCITS cat bond fund to almost $400 million in net assets by the end of the third-quarter of 2025. Nephila Capital delivered increased fund management revenues to its parent Markel in the third-quarter. The average yield to maturity of the catastrophe bond market has fallen by a meaningful 25.5% year-on-year, according to data from Euler ILS Partners.
