This week we reported that wildfire exposed cat bond issuance has reached $5.183bn this year, approaching the full-year total from 2025.
Verisk estimated last week's earthquake in Kumamoto, Japan may cause an industry loss of up to $2.1bn.
We also covered the final seasonal hurricane forecasts from the TSR team and CSU meteorologists, both of which continue to call for well-below average activity.
Allstate's Florida reinsurance tower has more cat bonds in it this year, as the capital markets take a growing share.
ILS manager Twelve Securis has set up new distribution partnerships in Asia, as it targets growth in the region. We also reported today on the firm combining its cat bond and private ILS portfolio management and anaytics teams.

In other stories this week, wildfires in Washington state could cost insurers more than a billion dollars.
Insurer Zurich revealed a $1bn data centre focused quota share reinsurance arrangement, as well as its latest catastrophe reinsurance towers.
Swiss Re reported that renewal conditions were challenging at the mid-year but that T&Cs largely held, while Munich Re looked ahead and said it expects pricing and terms to be "largely upheld" at January 2027.
Munich Re's CFO also explained why the reinsurer is using less cat bonds and retrocession now.
The GAM Swiss Re Cat Bond Fund surpassed $2bn of AUM recently, growing almost half a billion dollars this year.
Hiscox's ILS AUM has grown by 93% in 2026 so far, to reach a new high of $2.9bn.
The ILS Advisers Fund Index returned 4.05% for the first-half of the year.
Life and annuity specialist Talcott launched a new reinsurance sidecar named West Grove Re.
