ILS news from today at the RVS |
With reinsurance and ILS industry executives heading home from the Monte Carlo Rendez-vous, we continued our coverage today.
Here's our final daily recap of news and interviews from Wednesday at the 2026 RVS event.
News broke first thing this morning that Willis Re has appointed reinsurance and capital markets veteran Neil Eckert as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Chris Parry, the Global Head of RenaissanceRe Capital Partners told us in an interview that a disciplined approach matters more than growth and right-sizing capital is key at this stage of the reinsurance cycle.
While growth in sidecar capital reflects a healthy demand for insurance-linked returns, long-term success will depend on the level of sophistication of structures, Anthony McKelvy, Managing Partner of Northern Re said.
Kier James, Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) of MultiStrat, underscored that as the casualty ILS market continues to grow, it also needs to demonstrate that it can be disciplined throughout market cycles.
When it comes to alternative sources of capital and ILS investors supporting the risk transfer needs of the data centre build-out, Swiss Re executives explained that it must be effective in terms of the economics.
Retrocession is back in fashion as market conditions evolve across reinsurance and rating agency S&P believes retro buying is set for a comeback.
This is our last daily update from Monte Carlo for this year. We look forward to seeing many of you at the RVS in 2027!
